The Rowenta DG5030:

"I had a pressure iron and steamer while living in Europe and loved it--I laundered all my husbnad's 100% cotton dress shirts as the commercial cleaners were very expensive and did not do the kind of work we were accustomed to here in the US--This Rowenta is even better than the unit I had in Euorpe--it is lighter, removes wrinkles with less effort and was cheaper."

The Reliable J420

"I bought an IronMaven in November 09 after burning out my third $100 steam iron in 3 years. My husband and I are employed professionals and I do all my own ironing. I wanted an iron that could melt the make up off my face and that would last. This product delivers. I have been using it for 3 months before writing this review. This unit is well made and has heft. It has a tank that holds water and I put it on the end of the ironing board. The iron itself is smaller than the other irons I have had, but this is good. You can get into the tight spots on clothes easier. It has a cork covered handle that is easy to grip. It produces so much steam that your ironing goes quicker. Shirts look better than when done by professional shirt service. You do need extra padding on the iron board to avoid grid marks coming through- I just put two covers on the board and eliminated this problem. It takes about 10 minutes for the unit to warm up and produce steam. When the tank is full you can steam about 40 minutes without a refill on water. The only downside to this unit is that if you needed the full length of the ironing board, you have to put the tank somewhere close. The cord from the iron to the tank is only about 3 feet long. I would buy this unit if you like lots of steam and do all your own ironing."

The Reliable J490A

"If you like to iron and especially if you like to iron with a great steam setting, then this is the iron for you. It is the most expensive iron I have owned but it is worth every penny. It will get every last wrinkle out of your clothing and put the 'fun' in ironing. The iron generates sufficient steam so you can get through you full load of laundry. The clear water container lets you see when you need to refill ( takes tap water). It does take a little while to warm up and is noisy so I gave it 4 stars instead of 5."
