Figuring out how many wires your existing intercom system has:

To determine the number of wires (conductors) that operates your system, go to one of your intercom room units and remove it from the wall. There would be at least ONE wire coming out of the wall, going to the back of this unit. Within this wire jacket, there will be individual wires (conductors). This is typically 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8. This number is the answer you will use for the first question.

Note: If there is more than one wire coming out of the wall, this would indicate that you have a "looped wiring" system. Typically, one wiring coming in and one wire going out to the next station.

Count the number wires (conductors) from one of those wires. The number of wires you find will be the answer to the first question in our wizard. If you have any trouble, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-221-8227.
