If You Have Heard or Read...
We have been in the business of installing Central Vacuums for over 27 years. There is NO validity to this statement. Cyclonic systems have been around for almost 60 years and are very common in residential homes and commercial establishments. Any central vacuum retailer that has negative things to say about cyclonic systems is usually because they are not authorized to sell them. The two main cyclonic manufactures are Vacu-Maid and Vacuflo.Listen to our staff engineer discuss the special motors used in true cyclonic systems.
This is completely untrue. Venting to the outside has numerous benefits including noise reduction and eliminating fine particulate dust in the exhaust. Venting a central vacuum system is like venting our clothes dryer, with just about the same amount of dust in the exhaust. Read what manufacturers have to say about venting outside.
PVC pipe is PVC pipe. Both are manufactured in the same plants. Plumbing PVC pipe has no more static electricity than Vacuum PVC pipe. We recommend contacting your local building department and asking them about the suitability and code for using vacuum pipe vs. plumbing pvc. We've called building departments across the country and asked them if we could use plumbing pvc to install a central vacuum system in their area, all said, "Yes," but some actually laughed at us when we asked the question. I guess they thought the answer was pretty obvious. Nevertheless, we recommend you always ask, and go with what the advice from the code department in your area.
Most "turbine" or air driven power heads are very efficient in cleaning carpet. Typically, we tend to lean towards electrical power heads when someone has dogs and cats. Also, homes with high pile carpets would do better with electrical attachments. Homes with Berber carpet, low pile carpet or area rugs are excellent candidates for air driven power heads. Companies such as Vacuflo and Miele highly recommend air driven power heads.
