Types of Central Vacuum Filters
Central vacuums come in all varieties that require disposable and permanent filters. The following is brief description of the types of filters we sell.
Cartridge filters - These are either disposable or permanent although most are disposable as the cartridge fills up with debris and trapped dirt. Changing a filter can improve the airflow and therefore suction of your central vacuum unit.
Foam Filters - Foam filters are obviously made of foam. With time these filters not only disintegrate, but they can also get clogged up with fine dust particles which restrict the airflow. When you purchase a sponge filter, you should see a large increase in your central vacuum's performance.
Inverted Filter Bags - These are not really bags but are a drop down filter that protects your central vacuum motor from any dust getting into the motor while the larger debris falls into the canister. They are permanent and need to be cleaned periodically. We have a video on our knowledgebase that shows how to clean an inverted filter bag. Cleaning the filter bag will improve the performance of your central vacuum unit.
Lint Screens - These are round filters that protect the motors of brands such as Eureka, Imperium and VacuMaid. They are not called "filters" but serve the function of a filter. Changing central vacuum filters will improve the overall performance of your unit.
Secondary Filters - This is what the name implies, a secondary filter, another type of filter that protects the central vacuum motor from any fine dust getting into the motor. Changing central vacuum filters will improve the overall performance of your unit.
