Types of Bags

Central vacuum system bags come in a variety of forms:

Disposable bags - for the quick and most convenient way of disposing of the dirt from your home, systems that use disposable bags brag that they are the preferred choice for allergy suffers that could not tolerate emptying a canister full of dust nor cleaning out a permanent filter.

Semi-Permanent bags - some central vacuum systems use a reusable bag that does collect the dust and debris in a bag but then requires you empty the bag. It's sort of similar to the "shake out" style of commercial vacuum bags from traditional vacuums. It is not permanent and will require that you replace it every so often.

Inverted Bag Filters - This type of bag is not a bag in the sense that it collects everything picked up by your system. The filter bag is more of a filter (but called a bag) that protects the motor and traps finer dirt and hair from entering the motor while the larger debris falls into the canister of the unit. Some people choose to use liners which can be used with filtered systems to basically get the same function of a bag even if you use a bagless central vacuum system. This type of system still requires that you periodically clean this filter bag and we have a video in our knowledgebase that shows how to clean an inverted bag filter.

Liners - These central vacuum liners are used with some cyclonic and filtered vacuum systems much like you'd use a trashcan liner. It's not a bag in the sense that the bag is connected to the tubing of your system but rather just like a liner for the debris container to make emptying it easier. It gives customers the best of both worlds; the bagless technology with the convenience and hygiene when emptying the dirt.
