Advantages of our exclusive patented 2x2 Adaptor Kits

(enables you to use SCH 40 2 inch plumbing PVC purchased locally)
  • 2 Inch plumbing pipe is available almost anywhere. Vacuum pipe is limited mainly to central vacuum dealers.
  • Plumbing pipe is much more substantial (thicker and stronger) than vacuum pipe.
  • Plumbing pipe comes in lengths up to 20 FT which offers greater system performance requiring less cutting and gluing.
  • Plumbing pipe works well under ground
  • Plumbing pipe offers less chance for clogs because of the larger diameter. Actually, vacuum pipe will completely fit inside plumbing pipe clearly showing not only better structural integrity, but allowing you to visualize the larger capacity for air flow and reduction for potential clogging.
Central Vacuum Pipe vs Schedule 40 PVC Pipe   Central Vacuum Pipe vs Schedule 40 PVC Pipe

Note:

Formulas utilized are the Air Velocity in a Pipe and Air Volume Discharge from Pipe. This testing was done with Vacuum PVC tubing measured at 1.88 inches ID (inside diameter) and plumbing PVC pipe measured at 2.06 inches ID (inside diameter). The calculations are over a 10 ft length.
Pipe Options - What is this?: Vacuum Pipe2x2 Adapters
Inlet kits with vacuum pipe include all of the components to install inlets. When our customers choose inlet kits with pipe, Central Vacuum Stores only supplies code certified central vacuum pipe stamped from the manufacturer with the ASTM F2158 certification.
Inlet kits with 2x2 adapters included everything needed to install inlets with the exception of 2 inch Schedule 40 plumbing pipe, Schedule 40 fittings and glue purchased separately at your local home goods store. The 2x2 adapter will enable 2" Schedule 40 plumbing pvc pipe to connect to vacuum pvc tubing. The patented adapters are designed in such a way that the plumbing pipe and the vacuum tubing actually fit snuggly into each end of the adapter creating a smooth interior wall. This means the possibility of interference from the connection is eliminated. The adapters are actually connected outside of the pipe, allowing efficient airflow to move dirt and debris through the system and into the dirt container without interference or potential for clogs. Please note: Central vacuum manufacturers typically recommend central vacuum tubing for residential installations, however we wanted our residential customers to have the same choice our commercial and industrial customers have.
Type of Inlets - What is this?: StandardElectric
Standard Inlets - Standard Inlets can be used with either non-electric or electric corded pigtail hoses.

These inlets require low voltage for turning the vacuum system on or off. These inlets have NO electrical capability. If electrical attachments are used, then you need to use a central vacuum hose that plugs into the inlet, and there will be a 4 to 6 foot cord (usually referred to as a Pigtail) that plugs into an electrical outlet for electricity. NOTE: Standard inlets will not work with direct connect hoses.
Electric Inlets - Electric Inlets can be used with any non-electric or direct connect hoses.

These inlets require low voltage wiring AND electrical wiring. The low voltage wiring is used to turn the vacuum system on or off. The electrical wiring provides electricity to the powerhead that is used to clean carpet. The central vacuum hose has electrical wire running through the hose and the end that plugs into the inlet has prongs that fit into the inlet for electricity. NOTE: These inlets will work with direct connect, corded or non-electric hoses.
Color of Inlets - What is this?: White (Plastic)Ivory (Plastic)Almond (Plastic)Antique Bronze (Metal)Chrome (Metal)
 Polished Brass (Metal)
Quantity of Inlets - What is this?: 12345
 678910
 1112131415

Number of Inlets - To make sure your central vacuum hose reaches every room throughout the house, you must first determine the number of inlets you will need and their locations. One inlet valve can serve 700-800 square feet (63-72 sq m) using a 30ft hose. Use only interior walls, if possible, so you won't have to deal with insulation typically found in exterior walls.
