If you have carpet in your home, the powerhead you use is important. A central vacuum powerhead can be either electric or air driven. If you compare the cost of a low end air driven powerhead to the top of the line electric powerhead, the price varies from about $40.00 to approximately $300.00.

If you have a substantial amount of carpet, and/or pet hair, then an air driven powerhead is out. An air driven powerhead is ideal for a home with limited low pile carpet or carpet traffic. The right electric powerhead can work on any pile carpet no matter the dirt.

Built-In Switch: If you have an old style electric hose, it may not have a switch on the handle. If your hose does not have a switch on the handle, then the powerhead needs to have a built-in switch, otherwise the powerhead will run continuous. Look at the PB11 powerhead if this is what you need.

Died after 3 yrs of minimal use of brushes. All hardwoods throughout house with area rugs. It performed excellant when working. No reason for this to fail with such minimal use.

This unit replaced a 22 year old unit. The age should tell a lot about this piece of equipment.
