The fan assembly replaced a 10-year old fan assembly which is used virtually every day in our master bathroom. We were fearful that we would need to replace the entire unit (housing, etc.) due to its age and possible non-availability. What a great surprise to find out a perfect fit replacement is available! Don't make this repair difficult. Just remove the cover and lightbulb. Take off the wingnut. Remove two plugs and one screw. Takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish. Save yourself some major dollars and just replace the fan.

This replacement assembly has been re-engineered from the original design. After a few years, my bathroom fan started making noise. After inspection, I found that the blower had slipped down the motor shaft and was hitting the assembly housing. The friction ridges on the plastic blower must have worn down enough to cause this condition. Instead of buying a new fan or replacement blower, I saw this "assembly" available and thought I'd give it a try..... and I'm really glad I did. NuTone re-engineered the blower design so the "slipping" can no longer occur. The replacement assembly is better engineered, quieter and took 5 minutes to install. If you're having a similar problem, before buying a new fan, I strongly recommend trying this less expensive alternative first.

This assembly has been re-engineered from the original model I have (8663RF). The fan started making load noises and after inspection, the plastic blower was slipping down the shaft and hitting the assembly housing. The friction ridges on the blower must have worn down enough to cause this condition. This replacement has a completely different design that prevents this condition from happening. Before ripping out the fan and replacing it with a new one, I strongly recommend trying this first, it works great, is quieter, it's cheaper than a new fan (yet I feel I just got one) and it installs in 5 minutes.

I do not know how old this light-fan fixture is, maybe 10 yrs, but was glad to see that I could buy a replacement fan-motor assembly for it after it quit on us. It was relatively easy to install. The only problem was that whoever installed the fixture assembly did not do a great job initially. The fan motor plugs into an outlet in the light fixture assembly in the ceiling so it is safe to replace yourself. Remember to clean the fan once in awhile. 10 yrs of dust came falling out and was what probably killed the motor.

worked exactly as expected. I could not find this part locally. Even Home Depot who sold me the Bath fan in the first place and still sells it doesn't carry this replacement motor. But I found it here, ordered it, and voila! sweet quiet perfectly operating fan once again.

I decided to replace the fan motor assembly instead of going with an entirely new unit. I made my decision based on reviews and the ease of using the website. If you were able to remove the motor it's just as easy to install this replacement assembly. Kudos to Nutone for actually making replacement parts.
